Saving money on the cost of birth control is important, but only if you can fill the prescription in the first place. When you go to the pharmacy to have your birth control prescription filled, it should be filled without any hassle. You shouldn’t have to wonder whether your local pharmacy will fill your doctor’s prescription.
That’s why Governor Blagojevich recently issued an emergency rule that orders every pharmacy in Illinois that sells contraceptives to accept and fill all birth control prescriptions without delay. No pharmacy should be able to come between you and your doctor. Unfortunately, both here in Illinois and across the nation, that hasn’t always been the case. This rule states that if you have a valid prescription, it must get filled promptly and reliably. No questions asked.
